From solar-powered smoke detectors for the early detection and prevention of forest fires, developed by a start-up from Eberswalde in Brandenburg, to a wide variety of building materials made from recycled materials, a wide variety of timber construction ideas, apps for the global networking of climate protection experts and a cooperative for a world community forest. An impressively large number of product and project ideas were presented by around 40 speakers at the Forest Innovation Day, which we held for the first time in 2023 together with Potsdam entrepreneur Ulf Leonhard at our Design Station in Wittstock/Dosse.
Around 120 guests attended live on site, and more than 320 followed the keynote speeches and presentations of the start-ups online. Among the audience were two school classes from Wittstock/Dosse and Pritzwalk. Prospective forestry experts from the forestry work school Kunsterspring of the Brandenburg State Forest also took part. "With our invitation, we wanted to give the young people the chance to experience an international, English-language event that focused on the topic of climate protection. They should experience how important their future participation in the economy in Northwest Brandenburg is and what we as a company and many other companies are tinkering with," SWISS KRONO Managing Director Hendrik Hecht also explains. "We are constantly developing our SWISS KRONO products further and therefore observe the market intensively. This also includes looking at the international start-up scene. Because there could be ideas there that fit our products. In addition, it is always important to find out what clever minds are working on. That's exactly what this event with its excellent line-up was all about. That's why we were very happy to support Ulf Leonhard in making it happen!"
Max von Tippelskirch, CSCO / Member of the executive board of the SWISS KRONO Group, was also on site and was enthusiastic about the event: "If you add up the amount of CO2 that could be saved just with the business ideas presented here, it's gigantic. That's why events like this are needed, to turn ideas into products and projects through investment or new networks."
