Wood purchasing

Every year, we process 3.4 million cubic meters of industrial wood, of which 1.2 million cubic meters are used for the production of SWISS KRONO OSB and SWISS KRONO MDF.
For the production of OSB boards, we only use fresh and healthy softwood pulpwood (mainly pine) without blue stain.
We produce MDF boards mainly from softwood pulpwood in combination with hardwood pulpwood of various lengths (primarily in a length of three meters, upon agreement even two to six meters as well as wood chips with and without bark). We will also be happy to assist you in the sale of your high-quality saw log product ranges.

Sustainable recycling economy: PEFC, FSC®, ISO 9001, ISO 38200
We promote sustainable forestry, because we only use thinned timber from ecologically managed forests to manufacture our products. We are committed to implementing and maintaining the requirements for the monitored supply chain in accordance with DIN ISO 38200.
We do not buy wood from unacceptable sources like:

• illegally harvested wood,
• Wood from areas where fundamental traditional and civil rights are violated,
• Wood from forests whose special conservation values are endangered by forestry,
• wood from the conversion of natural forests into plantations or non-forest use and
• Wood from forests planted with genetically modified tree species

For the processing of wood from sustainable forestry, we are certified according to the standards (chain of custody) of the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFCTM) and the Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC®) certification systems.
Our quality management (ISO 9001), environmental management (ISO 14001) and energy management system (DIN EN ISO 50001) are also certified.

• from the private forest owner or from the forestry operation in the state or municipal forest
