History

The history of SWISS KRONO Group begins in Switzerland in the 1960s. Ernst Kaindl founded a company in Menznau in 1966, which developed into one of the world's leading manufacturers of engineered wood products within a few years.

In 1987, the first site outside Switzerland opens in the picturesque small town of Sully-sur-Loire in France. A few months later, a plant in Vásárosnamény, Hungary, follows even before the fall of the Iron Curtain. The production started in 1992 in Heiligengrabe, Germany, in 1994 in Żary, Poland, and in 1999 in Barnwell, South Carolina, USA. At the turn of the millennium, three production sites are opened in Ukraine and one plant in Russia.

Today, the SWISS KRONO Group comprises eight national subsidiaries. The group employs around 5,000 people worldwide. Their products are sold in 120 countries.

The values of the entrepreneur Ernst Kaindl († 2017) are formative for SWISS KRONO Group.
