OSB Laying scheme

Coating and Painting

  • for SWISS KRONO OSB with ContiFinish® surface, a solvent-based PU (DD) or synthetic resin varnish can be used
  • sanded surfaces are suitable for coating and varnishing like normal wood: (the following can be used: lacquers, oils, waxes, glazes...); it is advisable to apply multiple layers and an intermediate sanding after the first coat
  • the application of at least three layers is recommended
  • an absolutely smooth surface can only be achieved through filling

Important note on coating and painting!
Please not the following carefully:

When SWISS KRONO OSB is coated with oils or hard wax oils, an interaction between the ingredients of the oils and the natural wood resin of SWISS KRONO OSB may occur under certain circumstances. This can lead to an increased, longer-lasting formation of odors in the room. It is therefore recommended to consult with the manufacturer of the oil or hard wax oil before application.

Transport and Handling

  • during transport and assembly, protect from high moisture absorption – especially the unprotected edges
  • pay attention to edge protection when lifting, moving and stacking (especially with N + F panels)
  • according to construction panel marking or manufacturer's documentation, the following must be checked on site: thickness, service class, surface (sanded or unsanded), edge design (blunt or tongue and groove)
  • The boards can be set down at a 70-degree angle for a short time during installation
  • the transport of individual boards shall take place upright

Storage

  • Protect from exposure to high moisture penetration and very high air humidity
  • avoid direct ground contact
  • Outdoor storage only temporarily and ensure that the stacks are covered with waterproof, but diffusion-open tarpaulins
  • Always stack boards lying flat in stacks on pallets or flooring sleepers (max. distance 600 mm)
  • Always align the flooring sleepers exactly one above the other and parallel to the shorter side of the board
  • maintain flush edge finish (max. edge protrusion 15 mm)

Air conditioning

  • Pre-conditioning of the boards before assembly
  • approx. three days storage of the boards under the climatic conditions of the installation site
  • this adaptation to the ambient humidity of the later installation site prevents excessive shrinkage and swelling

Sawing, milling, drilling

  • SWISS KRONO OSB can be processed with all common tools for wood and can be sanded, sawed and drilled like solid wood

Nailing, stapling, screwing, gluing

  • SWISS KRONO OSB can be fixed with screws, nails or staples on wooden poles and beams
  • DIN EN 1995-1-1 (EC 5) must be observed during execution
  • Tongue and groove joints should be glued / bonded
