SWISS KRONO at DACH+HOLZ (ROOF+TIMBER) International 2024

Prensa | SWISS KRONO Germany

March 2024 / Engineered wood producer SWISS KRONO will showcase forward-looking OSB products at the roofing and timber construction industry’s foremost trade fair in Stuttgart, Germany. Its trademark Show Module is cleverly integrated in the stand to provide a special setting for holding product presentations and talking with customers.

The SWISS KRONO product highlights at DACH+HOLZ 2024:

Three versions of MAGNUMBOARD® OSB

The modules of the SWISS KRONO MAGNUMBOARD® OSB solid timber construction system comprise glued-together SWISS KRONO OSB/4 boards with significantly better technical properties than those of conventional EN300-compliant OSB/4 boards, a fact that has been confirmed by independent institutes. Starting immediately, SWISS KRONO supplies three different versions of this product:

1. Basic: for timber construction firms that do the joining and/or cutting work themselves

To add even more value, SWISS KRONO supplies Basic modules to timber construction firms. These raw boards come in thicknesses between 50 and 250 mm, variable lengths and four different widths:

  • 2,000-15,000 x 2,810 mm (available on request)
  • 2,000-15,000 x 2,510 mm
  • 2,000-15,000 x 1,400 mm
  • 2,000-15,000 x 1,250 mm

Timber builders can use the raw boards to make solid wall, roof and ceiling modules, which can (by way of example) be used to make interior or exterior walls, ceilings and roofs of single-detached homes and blocks of flats.

2. Evolution: wall modules for carpentry and joinery firms

This version is suitable (among other things) for adding storeys and building garages and partition walls. It measures 2,470 x 2,770 mm in size, is available in two different thicknesses (75 and 100 mm) and comes with ready-made edge grooves, loose tongues and bearers. This lets them be very quickly and easily installed. Elements can be flexibly joined and finished by hand.

3. Premium: modules completely prefabricated by SWISS KRONO licensees

Flexibly prefabricated modules measuring up to 18,000 x 3,800 mm can be taken advantage of by architects, planners and investors to design and implement single detached homes, blocks of flats, office buildings or other structures, including taller and subterranean buildings with larger units (building classes 4 and 5 under German law).

ONE-BLOCK Wall

This solid, dismantlable party wall made of SWISS KRONO MAGNUMBOARD® OSB excels with a high airborne sound attenuation value of Rw = 66 db. Installing PhoneStar acoustically insulating board as interior cladding eliminates the need for additional soundproofing. ONE-BLOCK Wall can be prefabricated and stacked, and only screws are needed to install it. Neither spring rails nor acoustic insulation clips are required for decoupling purposes. The surfaces can be directly covered with plaster, paint, wallpaper or tiles.

Acoustic Demo

SWISS KRONO lets you experience how acoustic insulation sounds: by simulating the ability of various types of walls to mitigate traffic noise or music in the next room. Visitors to the stand can personally experience how solutions for optimised soundproofing result in noticeably quieter rooms.

Tested REI60 timber-frame construction without fire-resistant covering

SWISS KRONO has worked with the German Association for Prefabricated Timber Construction (DHV), the Liability Insurance Association of German Industry (HDI), Bauer and Rockwool to successfully conduct fire tests of REI30 and REI60 in buildings between seven and 13 metres tall with units up to 400 sqm in size (corresponding to German building class 4). One of the tested walls was a thermally insulating loadbearing interior wall built with 25-mm-thick SWISS KRONO OSB/3 EN300 or alternatively 22-mm-thick SWISS KRONO OSB/3 stop fire EN300 (flame-retardant) and 140 mm of Termarock 3 rock wool.

DACH+HOLZ is an important platform for us to demonstrate the possibilities that building with wood offers today’, says Robert Schneider, Managing Director for Sales and Marketing at SWISS KRONO Germany. ‘We’re looking forward to sharing information and experiences with users and architects and talking to both existing and new customers.’
