SWISS KRONO OSB – the all-rounder for wood construction

SWISS KRONO OSB is a high-quality wood building material which is used in many different ways due to its excellent material properties.
The product is certified with the Blue Angel eco-label, glued 100 per cent formaldehyde-free and made of wood from sustainably managed forests.
OSB stands for Oriented Strand Board. The board consists of several layers with aligned wood fibers.

In direct comparison to particle boards, SWISS KRONO OSB has much superior product properties:

Are there different OSB boards available?

The different types of OSB boards from SWISS KRONO differ in quality, size and thickness. They are available in thicknesses from 9 mm to 40 mm and up to 18 meters long.

What can I use OSB for?

The wood building material can be used as roof and wall paneling, load-bearing and stiffening paneling on ceiling beams, attics, as floor covering and also for solid wood construction.

Which panel thickness is suitable for what?

Basically, the following applies: The larger and stronger the individual boards, the higher the resilience and load-bearing capacity.
OSB is divided into technical classes 1 to 4 according to DIN EN 300. Classes 1 and 2 are not used in modern wood construction. SWISS KRONO produces OSB boards from class 3 onwards, which are used as load-bearing boards for dry and wet areas.
OSB/3 and OSB/4 are used for load-bearing purposes. While thin boards are sufficient for wall cladding, the best possible board thickness is selected for the structural construction in accordance with its tensile strength.
If OSB is also expected to contribute to thermal and heat protection, the thicker the board, the higher the insulating properties. OSB has the same insulating properties as solid wood, but offers a better storage mass due to its higher density.
When choosing a suitable OSB board, the various quality gradations or technical classes are also important. This is because they indicate the area of application for which the respective board can be used or how much static load it can bear.
