Modular construction with SWISS KRONO LONGBOARD OSB

The SWISS KRONO LONGBOARD OSB is an excellent example of how closely we, as a manufacturer of building materials, work together with our customers. This results in innovative new products that strengthen our market leadership.
In the past five years, modular construction has been growing in Germany and Europe. Fast and flexible constructions are more in demand than ever. As a result, the demand for large formats made of OSB is also increasing, as this saves construction time and costs. In order to meet this growing demand, we have already rebuilt production and logistics at the SWISS KRONO factory in Heiligengrabe in 2016. Since then, we have been the only manufacturer in the world that is able to produce OSB boards of various qualities in lengths of up to 18 meters.

Wood and engineered wood materials are ideal for making prefabricated modules. Large-format OSB boards deliver a large number of benefits. Dimensions up to 18 x 2.8m enable rapid prefabrication, as there is no need to cut multiple boards to size and join them together. The large formats thus make it possible to make walls and ceilings which extend the entire width of a structure without any joints whatsoever. This improves both acoustic and thermal insulation. The bottom line is that is SWISS KRONO LONGBOARD® OSB is the ideal engineered wood material for large-dimensioned, joint-free applications in timber construction.

SWISS KRONO LONGBOARD® OSB is available in various versions. All SWISS KRONO OSB boards with a length of 6501mm or greater are designated as “LONGBOARD”.

Blue Angel for SWISS KRONO OSB from Heiligengrabe, Germany

SWISS KRONO OSB/3 EN300, OSB/4 BAZ from the SWISS KRONO GROUP’s German site now bear the Blue Angel. This ecolabel tells consumers that only environmentally friendly materials with low emission levels, such as wood from sustainably managed forests, are used to make them, and that they may be used in buildings without any risk of health issues..
