SWISS KRONO at DOMOTEX 2024

January 2024: SWISS KRONO, the renowned Swiss maker of engineered wood products, is poised to master new challenges and meet new requirements. The firm is presenting innovative products for tomorrow’s consumers at the DOMOTEX trade fair in Hannover, Germany.

 

SWISS KRONO is committed to taking the lead, thinking ahead and developing solutions that point the way forwards. This is also reflected in its trade fair motto, ‘Step into the Future’: How are we going go live? How do we want to live? What is important for us and future generations? ‘These are the main questions we ask ourselves to get guidance for developing new products’, says Fabian Kölliker, Head of Group Marketing at SWISS KRONO. ‘To answer them, we stay in close touch with our customers, explore ways to set ourselves apart, define our target groups and address different requirements. This approach enables us to market appropriate products that appeal to and meet the wishes of diverse user groups.’ By developing COREPEL, an extremely robust, ecofriendly line of designer flooring, the firm has already done pioneering work. And now SWISS KRONO is taking the next step by conquering the world of flooring in the ‘hybrid resilient’ category with a new global umbrella brand dubbed ‘kiwi’.

 

kiwi: Launch of a Global Umbrella Brand

kiwi combines the best properties of vinyl and laminate and goes further: this flooring material is incredibly robust with an increased density (nearly 1,000 kg/m³), a wood-based core and water-resistant connection technology. The icing on the cake is an extremely sturdy, scratch-proof surface that’s a real ace in the war against germs.

‘From the start, we developed a dynamic concept for our kiwi brand, says Kölliker. ‘We specifically wanted it to continue evolving and adapting to specific customer requirements, over and over again. By taking this approach, we make sure that the brand will lastingly keep its innovative character and continue to lead in the hybrid-resilient flooring category.’

With kiwi now, SWISS KRONO’s first kiwi product, the company is consciously taking aim at the wishes of the so-called Millennials (also known as ‘Generation Y’). The members of this group are looking for simple, sustainable and flexibly usable solutions. ‘Our kiwi now product ideally corresponds to the modern lifestyle of today’s young consumers’, says Kölliker. ‘We know that sustainability, health and individuality are especially important to this target group. And our floors meet all of these requirements while also delivering unique designs that harmonise with their personal styles and taste and are anything but boring.’ To communicate this, kiwi now speaks to and interacts with customers as part of a commitment to total transparency. Potential users are addressed directly and personally: ‘I care about your health and wellbeing, which is why I’m a floor covering that promotes healthy living, is PVC-free and is produced in Europe from renewable raw materials. I’m also water-resistant, pet-friendly and extremely robust. And that’s not all – I’m naturally vegan and, thanks to my Easy Click installation system, I fit perfectly into place in an instant – and stay there for a very long time.’

COREPEL Evolution PURE: Real Wood and No Comprises

Evolution PURE is the latest product to emerge from SWISS KRONO’s advanced COREPEL technology. A blend of leading Swiss innovation and traditional craftmanship, it features a wood core surrounded by an impermeable jacket. This ensures watertight flooring with exceptional dimensional stability that effortlessly takes the stresses of everyday use in stride. The jacket consists of Kauramin® BALANCE, a biomass-balanced resin that slashes the product carbon footprint (PCF) in production by 30%. COREPEL Evolution PURE contributes to achieving a healthy, pleasant indoor climate. It complies with the DEC standard on environmentally friendly composite materials, contains 30% share of recycled material and is PVC-free.
