New SWISS KRONO Products at BAU 2023

April 2023 / SWISS KRONO stands for products which advance sustainable building and healthy living. Its Flooring, Interiors and Building Materials divisions supply a wide range of attractive, forward-looking products based on engineered wood.

Fabian Kölliker, Head of Group Marketing, SWISS KRONO Group: ‘Demand is surging for sustainable products which promote healthy living and come with appropriate certifications to qualify for government subsidies. SWISS KRONO works steadily to come up with new innovations and improve on existing products. In line with our motto, “Committed to Nature and Circular Building”, SWISS KRONO is going to showcase an attractive line-up of innovative new products at BAU 2023. Our motto is a perfect fit because SWISS KRONO consistently goes out of its way to ensure certified energy management, use renewable energy sources, locally and sustainably obtain its raw materials, and produce with resource-conserving processes throughout the value chain at all of our facilities while minimising long-distance transport.’

LAUNCH OF NEW COREPEL PRODUCT LINES

SWISS KRONO introduced its robust, 100% watertight eco-design COREPEL flooring three years ago. Following its successful launch in the USA, COREPEL is now also enjoying growing popularity in Europe. The secret behind its ability to repel water is an outer layer of high-performance resin surrounding a core that consists to more than 50% of natural wood. It is also the world’s very first patterned floor to conform to the ‘durable eco-composite’ (DEC) standard.

Now SWISS KRONO is taking it to the next level with the new COREPEL EVOLUTION line, which has a much higher share of wood at 85%. Kauramin® BALANCE is used to make the protective sheath; this binder, produced while applying the novel biomass balance principle developed by BASF, boasts a significantly reduced product carbon footprint (PCF). That of manufacturing COREPEL EVOLUTION is also at least 30% less than for comparable flooring products. To make EVOLUTION PURE, a low-swelling real wood surface is combined with our water-resistant substrate. The high-performance resin penetrates and saturates the surface, making it waterproof and much more robust than normal wood floors. Although it looks and feels exactly like natural parquetry, significantly less wood is required to make it. A cubic metre of oakwood only yields about 150 m2 of three-ply parquetry, but the same quantity is enough to make 600 m2 of EVOLUTION PURE flooring, amounting to a fourfold increase.

‘PURE’ expresses this product’s naturalness while ‘EVOLUTION’ evokes its recyclability. Together they constitute SWISS KRONO’s motto for this trade fair. The new décors are nature-inspired stone and wood designs which are barely distinguishable from the actual materials in terms of their look and feel. COREPEL is suited for full-surface gluing, making it an eco-friendly alternative to glued vinyl.

NEW POSSIBILITIES FOR DESIGNING SURFACES

ONE WORLD COLLECTION – For creating bespoke living spaces, SWISS KRONO is now adding 39 new décors to the ONE WORLD collection, which already spans styles that are as diverse and inspiring as the world itself. The collection is continually evolving in harmony with the latest international design trends. The spectrum ranges from bright wood designs and pastel-like unicolours all the way to dark brown/grey wood decors as well as intense blue and dark matt green hues. All of the décors can be combined with one another, and as a consequence this extensive collection makes it easier than ever for users to create their own styles.

BE.VELVET – This high-quality enhanced matt surface for furniture of all kinds not only resists fingerprints and other marks, but is also antibacterial and scratch-resistant, making it ideal for heavily used surfaces. Not even hands with freshly applied lotion or fingers greasy from cooking leave behind visible marks after touching it. BE.VELVET feels warm and soft and is completely non-reflective, giving it a completely matt look. It is available in eight attractive unicolours ranging from white to anthracite, and can be applied to a variety of substrates.

THE NEW SWISS KRONO SHOW MODULE

The thoroughly updated SWISS KRONO Show Modul is celebrating a new premiere at BAU 2023. Deriving inspiration from the idea of ‘tiny houses’, it demonstrates the versatility and capabilities of modern engineered wood materials even more impressively than before. From water-resistant flooring across clever wall systems and directly covered interior walls all the way to acoustic ceilings, it integrates numerous new SWISS KRONO products as well as novel interactive and multimedia features to give visitors a complete experience.

Interested visitors are also invited to visit the company website  at www.swisskrono.com/umwelt-highlights to learn what responsible, sustainable production of engineered wood products means to SWISS KRONO. There is also information on selected sustainable products for healthy living which provide appropriate answers to customers’ new needs.
