SWISS KRONO at BAU 2019

14.01.2019 | News | SWISS KRONO Group

From digital construction planning to individual interiors style

January 2019 – The space around us has a huge influence on our lives. It inspires us, makes us feel safe and helps us perform at our best and stay healthy.

For this reason, Martin Brettenthaler, CEO and Chairman of the SWISS KRONO Group Executive Board, attaches great importance to the aspect of sustainability: "SWISS KRONO Group has set itself the goal of steadily and consistently reducing VOC emissions and the use of formaldehyde. The company has taken a leading role in this matter within the industry."

At BAU 2019, SWISS KRONO Group will present new products that will allow everyone to turn their own individual style ideas into reality, whether they're planning buildings, constructing with wood materials or designing living spaces using new decors and tactile surfaces.

“With our comprehensive product range, which covers everything from planning and construction to interior design, we aim to meet and exceed all customer requirements – whether they relate to workmanship, usability, stylish living or environmental expectations,” says Max von Tippelskirch, CSCO and member of the executive committee at SWISS KRONO Group.

Digital planning – with the SWISS KRONO TIMBER PLANNER

The SWISS KRONO TIMBER PLANNER web app is the digital successor to the successful “Timber frame construction handbook”. Architects, engineers, planners and installers can use the tool to find the right component for their specific construction project. Various filters, such as for building class, current regional requirements, building type, sound insulation and fire protection regulations, help you find the right product quickly and easily. In addition, the U-value, resistance to condensation and static performance of components can be checked. Users can create their own projects and easily send information about single or several components to distributors or installers. Preformulated templates for tenders can be filled out with the selected components, individually adjusted and reused. As a digital tool, the web app provides practical help for architects, planners and installers, making their everyday work easier.

You can access the web application at timberplanner.com in German and English.

For every eventuality – WATER-RESISTANT flooring products

SWISS KRONO has worked across various sites to develop water-resistant laminate flooring suitable for humid areas. A highly compressed and thus intensely non-absorbent base layer, as well as the AQUA PEARL click system, a friction locking system, form the basis for the water-resistant properties of the panels. The laminate flooring is extremely water-repellent, resistant to all types of liquids and highly durable (utility class 33, AC 5). Standing water that is absorbed within 24 hours leaves no traces on the laminate flooring (according to the NALFA test). The floor can therefore handle the occasional mishap with liquids – even if they are not cleaned up immediately.

The products are offered at the various sites under their own names. The corresponding collection from Germany is called AQUA ROBUSTO, while the one from Poland is called AQUA ZERO. The Swiss site is also presenting its water-resistant laminate flooring at BAU 2019 under the name "AQUASTOP".

Recipient of the German Design Award – CamuStyleTX

Inspired by robust limestone, metal and textile surfaces, SWISS KRONO Switzerland has developed a new surface for furniture fronts and interior design which easily imbues home environments with a unique “lived-in” look. CamuStyleTX, comprising a total of 12 decors in two product lines, METALLIZED and FANTASY, features an impressive look and feel. The surfaces create a warm, rustic atmosphere. The variety of subtle patterns offers myriad design options.

CamuStyleTX was awarded the prestigious German Design Award 2019 in the category “Excellent Product Design – Material and Surfaces.” The judges agreed that: “The particular Brutalist esthetic of the surfaces gives furniture and rooms a unique effect and an elegant vibrancy. A fantastic material with striking surface structures, which are also tactile, providing inspiration and stimulating creativity.”

Sensitive building – with SWISS KRONO OSB/3 sensitive

The new SWISS KRONO OSB/3 sensitive is made from 100% sustainable and naturally emission-free poplar wood, is glued without formaldehyde and has no typical, wood smell. Poplar wood is special in that it contains virtually no resins and is thus particularly low in VOCs (volatile organic compounds). So, unlike other woods, whose inherent smell can often be annoying or uncomfortable for those with a sharp sense of smell – this wood material means SWISS KRONO OSB/3 sensitive is particularly suitable for applications where air-quality requirements are high, such as in nurseries, schools, retirement homes, hospitals and meeting rooms.

Build safely – with the new, fire-rated wall structures

The field-tested system designs from SWISS KRONO Germany simplify building planning and construction. Perfectly coordinated products provide the best possible results in terms of stability, insulation and safety. The first fire test was on the outer wall of a building fitted with 125 mm SWISS KRONO MAGNUMBOARD® OSB and 160 m mineral fiber insulation. The Braunschweig Civil Engineering Materials Testing Institute (MPA) classified the fire resistance of the wall as REI 30 for the interior side and REI 120 for the exterior side.

This wall structure is special because the design includes the ceiling joint and overlapping insulation. This building outer wall can be placed directly next to the neighboring building in terraced houses.

A modern interpretation of a classic – the HERRINGBONE look

Modern spaces can echo the style of the early 20th century with the new laminate decors of the HERRINGBONE collection installed in the characteristic herringbone pattern. The highly modern yet classically stylish floor works well with virtually any interior design look. Even the most minimalist settings are lent a delicate nuance of Art Deco and Art Nouveau by the eight different decors in the collection. The 665 mm long and 133 mm wide individual panels, offset at 90° angles, inevitably conjure up images of Viennese coffee houses, Italian operas and classical theater, without detracting from the modernity of the interior.

With HERRINGBONE, SWISS KRONO TEX has developed a new presentation and installation method for adept do-it-yourself application. The easy-to-handle, two-piece set makes installing an elaborate-looking floor covering simple, as does the modern CLIC system.

Individual floor design – with the new Villeroy & Boch flooring line

The Villeroy & Boch flooring line has been fully revised for 2019. The four laminate flooring collections COUNTRY, CONTEMPORARY, HERITAGE and COSMOPOLITAN comprise a total of 21 new decors. The HERITAGE collection includes decors featuring the classic herringbone installation technique – currently experiencing a revival in popularity.

The licensing partnership between Villeroy & Boch and SWISS KRONO Group has been in place since 2014. With the current flooring line, Villeroy & Boch is integrating more high-quality laminate flooring into its new home environment collection.
